The Member hired a law firm to prevent the construction of a proposed massive condominium complex right next to the Member’s property. The law firm filed objections with the City Zoning Board to stop the development. These objections failed, and the Zoning Board granted the Developer 13 variances to commence construction. The Member appealed the Zoning Board’s decision but was unable to continue paying for her attorney. She contacted the LEGAL PLAN, which successfully negotiated an agreement with the Developer to purchase the Member’s home. The Member was able to use her settlement funds to purchase another home for her family in town. Despite several attempts by the Developer and his lawyers to back out of the deal, the LEGAL PLAN held them to the bargain by threatening to sue for specific performance. The Developer promptly folded and paid the Member $950,000.00 to avoid further litigation. The Member received over $48,000.00 worth of tax-free legal services.
